Pictures from my trip to Iowa/Minnesota August 1-15

Timothy took home all the balloons from the Heritage and Hope Banquet. He loved playing in them for about 2 hours, but then proceeded to pop every single balloon with a pencil. That was just as fun!
Timothy & Anna - cousins and friends
Boating & fishing...Timmy caught a fish with Papa's help.

Aaron P., Timmy & Porter - one of the many pics for the "Porter the Road Trip Dog II: Porter Goes to Bible Conference" movie.
Is it a lion? A bear? No it's Timothy! He found many ways to entertain himself when he was in the office with me and I was busy. He also tied yellow caution tape to the legs of the desks...or played with KJIA radio station balloons & popped them to try to scare the other secretaries.
A really cool park at Cutty's camp ground/resort. Timothy is the conductor.
My sissy seagull & Aaron & Porter (my other neice pup)...if you were seeing them in person, they'd be singing this song: "It's family time at the Petersen's, Porter, momma, daddy, were the Peteresen's. We sit on the bed, or the couch, or eachother, but most of all we love one another."

More Songs I Want to Share

Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus) by Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner, lost and left to die
O, raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus, come to Jesus, come to Jesus and live!

Now your burden's lifted, and carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain, so
Sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby, don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk sometimes we fall....so
Fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely, and steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then
Cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus and live!

O, and when the love spills over, and music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside...then
Dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side....and
Fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus and live!

The Bread Has Been Broken by Joe Beck and Wendy Willis

Come to the table and worship the Savior
Taste what forgiveness is for
His mercy will lead us, the grace of God feed us
Making us hungry for more
His body was given for you and for me
Look on the Cross and believe

The Bread has been broken
Our eyes have been opened
Oh come, Lord, restore and renew
Your word has been spoken
So humbled and broken
We do all in rememberance of You

The bread has been broken and all those who know Him
Believe without touching a scar
His death reconciled us, we live, sanctified, to
Become what we already are
To Him who loves and freed us to love
Be glory and honor and praise

The Bread has been broken
Our eyes have been opened
Oh come, Lord, restore and renew
Your word has been spoken
So humbled and broken
We do all in remembrance of You.

And the final song I want to share was written by a friend of my sister's - Drew Collins

Introit by Drew Collins

(CHORUS) Let us remember now, the kindness He has shown.
Let us recount the wonders of His grace.
Lest we move to quickly forgetting all He’s done.
In this quiet hour, we gather to remember.

Has He been good? Yes He has been good. (response)
Has He been faithful? Faithful all our days.
And has He been loving? Infinitely loving.
Let us now remember all these things and more.

Has He been kind? Yes He has been kind.
Has He been patient? Longing for my time.
Has He shown compassion? Healing every heart.
Let us now remember all these things and more.
REPEAT CHORUS

Has He been true? Yes He has been true.
Is He Holy? No one can compare.
Is He strong and mighty? A warrior and a king.
Let us now remember all these things and more.

All these things and more (repeat line a few times)

Do you hear His voice? Yes we hear His voice.
Do you hear Him calling? Calling us by name.
Do you see His beauty? His glory’s all around.
Let us now remember all these things and more.
REPEAT CHORUS

Stitches

Yesterday we had some excitement at our house. Aaron & Timmy road their bikes to Tully Park while I grocery shopped. When I returned I found the boys back at home and Aaron injured. The story goes that when they got to the park Aaron showed Timmy how to pop a wheelie on his bike. He really ended up showing Timmy how not to pop a wheelie on his bike. Aaron ended up scraping his leg on the jagged teeth of the bike pedal and getting a really nasty deep cut. So off to the medical clinic (less than 2 miles away) we went. And then we went to the pharmacy (one block from the medical clinic) to pick up the gauze & bandages we'd need for the next week.

I was wishing my cousin Brittany was here to lend her expertise and help us stitch Aaron up. She is 17 & lives in Haiti and has learned how to give stitches. Since there are no medical clinics in their area, she can do stitches for people who've been hurt, often they are accidentally cut with their machetes. It's a different world over there and we take things for granted so much. The details above about how close the clinic is to us, is for their benefit. We did pause & think how blessed we are that there is a clinic and pharmacy so close to us. We were in and out of both places in just under an hour. In Haiti that would never happen.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a before picture like Brittany does, but I will post an after photo below.

One of God's Great Don'ts

From My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers
July 4

Fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil doing. Ps. 37:8

Fretting means getting out at elbows mentally or spiritually. It is one thing to say "Fret not", but a very different thing to have such a disposition that you find yourself able not to fret. It sounds so easy to talk about "resting in the Lord" and "waiting patiently for Him" until the nest is upset - until we live, as so many are doing, in tumult and anguish, is it ipossible then to rest in the Lord? If this "don't" does not work there, it will work nowhere. This "don't" must work in days of perplexity as well as in days of peace, or it never will work. And if it will not work in your particular case, it will not work in anyone else's cast. Resting in the Lord does not depend on external circumstances at all, but on your relationship to God Himself.

Fussing always ends in sin. We imagine that a little anxiety and worry are an indication of how really wise we are; it is much more an indication of how really wicked we are. Fretting springs from a determination to get our own way. Our Lord never worried and He was never anxious, because He was not "out" to realize His own ideas; He was "out" to realize God's ideas. Fretting is wicked if you are a child of God.

Have you been bolstering up that stupid soul of yours with the idea that your circumstances are too much for God? Put all "supposing" on one side and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. Deliberately tell God that you will not fret about that thing. All our fret and worry is caused by calulating without God.

I've been spending way too much time calculating and trying to realize my own ideas and not enough time realizing His ideas.

Morphed Pictures

Timmy & Aaron P. & Nik & I spent a few hours making morphed photos of ourselves with Nikki's new computer program. The laughter was good medicine & I hope you enjoy these as much as we did : )
