Stitches

Yesterday we had some excitement at our house. Aaron & Timmy road their bikes to Tully Park while I grocery shopped. When I returned I found the boys back at home and Aaron injured. The story goes that when they got to the park Aaron showed Timmy how to pop a wheelie on his bike. He really ended up showing Timmy how not to pop a wheelie on his bike. Aaron ended up scraping his leg on the jagged teeth of the bike pedal and getting a really nasty deep cut. So off to the medical clinic (less than 2 miles away) we went. And then we went to the pharmacy (one block from the medical clinic) to pick up the gauze & bandages we'd need for the next week.

I was wishing my cousin Brittany was here to lend her expertise and help us stitch Aaron up. She is 17 & lives in Haiti and has learned how to give stitches. Since there are no medical clinics in their area, she can do stitches for people who've been hurt, often they are accidentally cut with their machetes. It's a different world over there and we take things for granted so much. The details above about how close the clinic is to us, is for their benefit. We did pause & think how blessed we are that there is a clinic and pharmacy so close to us. We were in and out of both places in just under an hour. In Haiti that would never happen.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a before picture like Brittany does, but I will post an after photo below.
